All the Ends of the Earth...
“In prayer we talk to God and listen to him, and we walk with the angels. [But when speaking about living out the Gospel], we have to descend to the human and live among others as one of them. But in favor of [evangelizing], the one argument that seems to count more than all the rest in God’s eyes is: [Jesus] descended from the Father’s embrace to save souls. He renewed the world by his own example, bringing salvation to human beings. The price of this salvation was his precious Blood, which washes us clean and is a fortifying drink. Jesus kept nothing for himself, but generously gave his all for our salvation. We then, as Secular Franciscans, are bound to act always according to the model, which we see shining in Jesus (Through The Year with Francis of Assisi, p. 76, Murray Bodo referencing St. Bonaventure’s Major Life, 12:1).”
“Secular Franciscans, alive with the spirit of Francis, bring to those around them by word and example the living Christ they have experienced. As it were, Seculars become a living Gospel for all to read (The Rule, articles 4,6).” Through our Franciscan presence “All the ends of the earth have seen the power of God (David Haas, Marty Haugen).”
Wishing all of you a blessed Easter Season!
