News from Browns ValleyOn Sunday, March 30th, the St. Anthony of Padua forming Fraternity had their meeting, as April 6, would have had many members unable to attend. The Fraternity welcomed Basil Knebel, a teacher in the Tiospa Zina (Sioux) Tribal School, who lives in Eden, SD, and Richard Johnson, a Browns Valley native, recently moving back from Big Lake, MN. Basil was a student in the Fargo Seminary while in High School, and has just completed his 2nd Orientation Class. Richard's visit, being his first, is just "checking us out". On Saturday, Carol and Edith travelled to Wahpeton to meet with Leo Lantz, a Fargo, ND, Nurse-Anesthetist, husband and father of 3. He too, has been interested in the Franciscans for quite a while, finally making contact. Leo is willing to do some assigned homework so as to meet with Carol and Basil for Orientation. The Apostolate of Prayer Shawls is continuing with more people receiving them. About ten people have been Blessed by them and we are hoping that the Ministry will aid in comforting our ailing and ill residents. Pearl Whelan, SFO, our Secretary, was hospitalized in Fargo for a few days, undergoing tests for her problem. They were unable to determine what was wrong. We are happy to have her back with us, though. Our on-going study of "A Retreat With Francis and Clare of Assisi" is just about completed. Next month we will study the final chapter. The book was out of print, so it had to be copied in order for everyone to join in the study. Our Gospel sharing was led by Basil as Gloria has been on vacation. The reading, being Jesus' appearance, with Thomas' scepticism, provided so very good sharing. At our May meeting we will watch the "Images of Mary" that Tim Wolney, SFO, presented to the Minneapolis group, a while back. Fr. Patrick Foley, TOR, has been assigned as the Immaculate Conception Province Pastoral Visitor. He is planning on coming on Memorial Day weekend, the 24th of May. Please help us pray for a bright, sunny weekend. Peace and God's Good,
