News from Browns Valley

Browns Valley, MN, forming St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity, met on May 24, 2008 with Fr. Patrick Foley, TOR. He came after being asked by Fr. Anthony Criscitelli, TOR to provide us with the necessary Pastoral Visitation required by the SFO Constitution in regards to "forming fraternities" and the steps to achieve "emerging" status. Tammy Wolney, SFO, the Minister of the sponsoring Fraternity, was also able to be there for the day, which provided her with opportunity to observe the group.

Fr. Pat met privately with Sr. Mary Ann and one of our Inquirers, as well as myself, the Formation Director. Because this was his first Pastoral visit, he did do everything "by the book" which we greatly appreciated, in preparation for things to come. After observing the meeting, he celebrated the Mass of Corpus Christi. Our music leader, Basil, an inquirer, accompanied us, using the Mass of Creation, which Fr. Pat sang and did extremely well. The parishioners who had come to the Saturday Mass were invited to share our potluck reception with us. All in all, a happy and truly Franciscan Day.

As this Pastoral Visit was also part of a meeting agenda, and also because of the Queen of Peace Regional Council Meeting in Buffalo, MN, June 6 to 8, the Fraternity decided not to meet until the Feast Day of St. Anthony, which will be June 13th. At that time, we plan to read the Pastoral Visitation Report by Fr. Pat and also the one that Tammy submitted. With St. Anthony as our Patron it would be fitting to share the progress of our group.

We would like to let everyone know that Sr. Mary Ann, OSF, will be celebrating her 60th Jubilee on June 7th, with her community in Little Falls, MN. All of us in the St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity in Browns Valley, MN want to wish her Joy, Peace, and Love in the Franciscan Spirit, which she demonstrates so well. God Bless Sr. Mary Ann, and Pax et Bonum.
